Sally

AV Coordinator

Pronouns: She/Her

Sally got into the music industry as a performer but shifted to the production side by helping friends run DIY gigs after putting together a patchwork PA system based around some $50 speakers removed from a church and other bargains from Gumtree.

In 2011 she got a regular gig running an open mic at the Townie in Newtown and moved into live sound as her full time profession by becoming the Townie's resident A/V tech and shortly afterwards a house tech at Lazybones Lounge in Marrickville. Since 2014 she has been booking and promoting the Townie’s live music as well and instated their original music only rule, which led to gigs increasing from the Wednesday open mic with scattered weekend dates every month to gigs four nights a week until the Covid pandemic.

Sally has freelanced at many events & venues around Sydney including regular gigs at The Red Rattler, The Lansdowne, Steyne Hotel, UTS Glasshouse & The Bearded Tit and one uncomfortably crowded show at the Cambridge Hotel in Newcastle mixing Joyride, which led to her regrettably turning down an invite to join the Elefant Traks touring roster to remain at The Townie.

In recent years she's opened a rehearsal studio in Marrickville called Sound Hole, designed & installed new PA systems at The Townie and The Gaelic Club, been a resident tech at The Great Club and run stages for the Sydney Fringe, Sydney Cringe, and Sydney Folk festivals. Sally was the tech and mentor for the Sound Sorcery series in 2025 and one of the mentors in their 2024 series.
