The Red Rattler Theatre is in the second year of its unique multi-arts program titled ‘Future Communities’. We are calling artists who are interested in participating in ‘The Future Communities-’ Artist in Residence (AIR) program’. Four artists will be selected for the yearly program. The ethos of this residency program is grounded in holding space, creating community, and offering resources for artists to generate bold and evocative new work that speaks to the now.
Selected artists will receive a 2-month residency. They will have access to their own private artist studio at the Red Rattler. Artists may apply as individuals or groups.
We are looking for artists who are passionate about their ideas and driven to realise them. The Red Rattler is a multi-arts venue so we are interested in hearing from everyone.

This program will:
- Introduce new ideas, expand understanding and challenge preconceptions of race, class, sexuality, gender, ability, and age through their practices;
- Empower artists from diverse artistic backgrounds/ genres/fields and develop platforms for them to showcase their works;
- Actively engage and support our local arts communities by creating new artistic experiences that enrich lives as well as support social, mental and economic wellbeing
- Ensure that artists are recognised and promoted for excellence in artistic practice
